You know, if you visit Jeff Jarvis’ BuzzMachine he will often trot out his "Do Not Build It, Not There" headline everytime he talks about the subject of the International Freedom Center museum. I will admit that at first I saw his side, but the more I read both sides of story the more I start to take the side of the IFC. The last time I checked we still live in a free country. If the families of the September 11 victims don’t like a particular exhibit they have the right, as free citizens, to protest and to boycott and to speak out. As family members of September 11 vicitims they have a very loud voice. But the more I read about this, the more I think the families have lost sight of what these bastard terrorists were attacking on that horrid day: our freedoms.
Last night turned out to be a good night for interesting television. Between Lost and Invasion maybe Wednesday night will be more enjoyable. It probably was not the smartest thing to do, but I’ve joined Lost in its second season. Last season it was on during The West Wing and, quite honestly, didn’t seem all the interesting. This season Wing has been moved to Sundays to be replaced by E-Ring, a show about the Pentagon, which I really had no interest in watching. First, I don’t really like Benjamin Bratt as an actor; second, I’m just not in the mood for another one of those military-themed shows that’s more patriotic pabulum and action-adventure drivel, so Lost looked better and better. I was able to catch several of the recap shows so I was pretty well caught up on what happened last season and I still plan to get the first season on DVD. All that being said, last night’s episode was quite good: suspenseful, dramatic, well-written, and well-acted. It’s nice to see Terry O’Quinn finally get a chance at being part of a hit show after playing guest star and supporting actor for so long. The show reminds me a lot of another favorite of mine, X-Files, at least until David Duchovny left the show. I’ll definitely be watching Lost for the remainder of the season.
There’s never been much to watch in the later part of the Wednesday nights. Law and Order became boring several assistant district attorneys ago and CSI: NY has never really caught on with me (mostly because of Gary Sinise’s boring and dour performance – and I’m a Gary Sinise fan), so it’s nice to have some choice and I chose Invasion – a good choice I felt. The story centers on the aftermath of a hurricane in Homestead, FLand the possibility of an alien invasion. Again, the acting and the writing are what make this show so interesting. I just hope the writers can live up to what they’ve created and not crap out half way through the season.

While I certainly shouldn’t be amazed it still just boggles my mind that porn is a priority for the FBI. A lot of blogs have been posting about this, most of them pissed at the waste of money, and I can certainly understand why. I never been much a champion for adult entertainment, but with the destruction of New Orleans, another hurricane headed toward Texas, Iraq in a mess, and the guy who attacked our country still on the loose you’d think our government could find better things to do with its time and money — our time and money! But no, they’re more interested in naughty words, blow jobs, and girl-on-girl sex. What a bunch of morons our government has become in teh last 6 years.
