It never ceases to amaze me what cowards terrorists are. Do they really believe they’re doing Allah’s will by killing innocents? Unfortunately, in the mind of too many of them, the answer is "Yes." Even more sad and enraging is that more moderate, if such a thing exists (and I believe it does), Muslims don’t speak out against these disgusting acts of murder.
URL: Pope denounces exclusion of religion from public service
The new Pope is convening a synod to discuss, among other things, falling attendance. Based on what this article has to say, I doubt they are going to solve this problem. I’m not Catholic, so it may be hypocritical of me to criticize the Church, but it’s my blog, so get over it.
The problem, as I see it, is that many Catholics are balking at the ever increasing need of the Church to insert itself into not only the private lives of its parishioners, but also into public politics. Under the short reign of Pope Benedict XVI so far, it is obvious that he wants the Church to exert an even great influence on people and events. Unfortunately, this is the 21st century, not the middle ages when the Church ruled behind the curtain of monarchies. People don’t want this. Personally, I prefer to make my own decisions and face the music with God; not be told by some holier than thou preacher that I will be damned to the fires of Hell because I don’t vote for hypocritically religious Republicans. Yes, that is an unnecessary overstatement, but it’s also not too far from the truth; especially when you listen to some of the rhetoric coming from the Catholic Church these days.

This sounds like a very intriguing and worthwhile endeavor. Not only does it help with the need for good teachers in rural communities, it allows students who might otherwise never know or experience poverty to better understand the challenges facing so many of our nation’s youth. I wish something like this would have existed when I graduated college. I’d have been more than happy to give up two years for the valuable experience.

Poor Tom may wish to remain active in the House, but now that Roy Blunt is power, he won’t want to let go and he won’t allow DeLay to stand in his way. Living in Missouri, I know full well the kind politician Roy Blunt is, and he will not tolerate interferance from Delay. Blunt has always been power hungry and now that he has it, he will do everything to keep it — even if that means sacrificing Tom DeLay
