Somehow we all have to go on with our lives without watching two rich bitches belittle everyday Americans.

XXXOOO Wish I Was There

I never know what to think of photo-ops like this.  Does the Defense Department search out men and women who have a strong desire to support the president and be his bitches on television?  I know, that’s a terrible thing to say about our service men and women, but these things just never cease to amaze me.  The president has proven time and again he will use any- and everybody to push his agenda, but this always seems so low to me.  The president wished he "…could be there to see you face to face and thank you personally."  I’m sure any of them would love to trade places for a day or two.

Bush Presidency Judged Unsuccessful

This may or may not be the case, but I think among hard core conservatives and many Republicans, George W. Bush will be considered one of the all time greats.  He’s done more to push their agenda than any Republican preisdent in 20 years; he succeeded in nearely bankrupting the government; he took us into a war wanted by conservatives from day one; and he will most likely succeed in changing the Supreme Court for the worse.  Hell, even Richard Nixon was treated like an elder statesman at conventions and on the speech circuit.  While I doubt Dubya’s post-presidency will be as successful as Bill Clinton’s, I seriously doubt he will be hurting.

Democrats See Dream of ‘06 Victory Taking Form

As much as I would love to see this happen, the Democrats are going to need more than a platform of change and potshots at the president’s mishandling of…well…just about everything.  Granted, there’s much Democrats can speak about, but unless they can offer feasible alternatives it’s just a waste of everyone’s time and energy.  Yeah, Iraq is a mess, but what’s the alternative; and unfortunately, Americans are tired of hearing about how we need to stay the course.  Yeah, the president’s appointees bungled the Katrina rescue efforts, but what can Democrats do better, differently when they aren’t the ones making the appointments?  Yeah, the economy is not so great, but what exactly can Democrats do to make things better?  I’ll tell you one thing, whining about tax cuts for the rich will not win you an election.

Personally, I don’t think Democrats can take back either the House or the Senate, but I think they can win enough seats to make life more difficult for the president and his party.  Love of power is becoming an addiction for Republicans and eventually it will come back to bite them in the ass.  The question is, will Democrats being ready to pick up the pieces and run?
