When I read newspaper endorsements I find myself wondering if anyone really gives a damn.  Newspaper endorsements certainly don’t sway me one way or another, even when they pick someone I like.  Moreover, does New Jersey really care what the New York Times thinks?  Somehow, I doubt it.

Maybe I’m a hartless bastard, but I hated Roberto Benigni and Life is Beautiful.  This man has always annoyed me and still does whenever I have to displeasure of seeing him.

Link: TV Squad–Threshold: Pulse

I will admit I was no fan of CBS’ new sci-fi drama, Threshold, when it furst aired.  Over the last few weeks, however, the show has really started to grow on me.  As this post suggests, Threshold is more of a thriller-espionage show with sci-fi elements thrown in for fun.  Unlike this reviwer I found the whole music idea very interesting.  It touched on something I’d been thinking of since the show aired:  why don’t the aliens just use the Internet to get their "message" out to the masses?  Well, now we know why:  they depend on the knowledge of the affected people to get their "message" out, and if those people aren’t tech savvy, it doesn’t happen.  In some ways that’s lame, especially for an obviously advanced species, but it works for the show.  I also like that the producers are not revealing everything outright.  The suspense of trying to figure out what’s really going to happen in part of the fun.

I know the show isn’t exactly burning up the ratings race, but I hope CBS gives it a chance.  Threshold is certainly not as good a show as Lost, but like Lost it needs time to develop an audience.  Of course, Friday night is not exactly the best night ever, but then 10 million viewers on Friday night is nothing to sceeze at.
