Commander in Chief Increases Its Lead

I will admit that Commander in Chief is starting to grown on me, but I find myself surprised at it’s success.  I think part of it can be explained by weak competition on the other networks, but I still remain surprised.  The show could definitely use some improvement.  I think the writers are still trying to decide how to write the character of President Mackenzie Allen, but with the arrival of Stephen Bochco maybe things will improve. He’s always been able to create and write strong women.  I just hope those rumors about him replacing Allen with a man are false.

Could it be CBS is trying to kiss some Bush ass since the Rather memo fiasco?

Confessions of a Wal-Mart Hit Man

People can prattle on about how Wal-Mart provides low cost products to those who can’t afford anything better, but at what price do they offer those low prices?  It seems like a high price to pay, at least to me.  I’m sure Mr. Nicholson feels like he’s betrayed his former employer, but he should feel proud of himself for exposing the real Wal-Mart.

The interview comes from the documentary, "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price."

The bad thing is, in many small towns like the one I live in Wal-Mart is the only choice you have.  Every time I step into my local Wal-Mart I feel dirty, but I’m not exactly swimming in money so I don’t have many choices when it comes to saving money.  A real Catch-22.

Cheney resignation rumors fly

OK, my cynical side sees this as one hell of a political move.  Cheney’s health has not been the best since the 2004 election and with the whole Plame Investigation on the verge of taking out several Bush administration officials, this would be a great way to divert attention away from the scandal.  Condi may be pro-choice, but what congressperson or Senator would vote against confirming the first woman VP who also happens to be an African-American?  No, it might not be a slam-dunk confirmation, but it would still happen. Of course, all this hinges on the Plame Investigation and Cheney’s ability to let go of power.

I don’t hear anyone talking about a mandate now!  Sad thing is Democrats aren’t really out there offering alternatives Americans can embrace.
