I find myself wondering of the larger repercussions of something like this hapenning. Yeah, the president has a large pool of people to select from, but this scandal will most likely give Democrats the upper hand in the 2006 elections. While I don’t think they will take back the majority in either the House or the Senate, I do believe they will cut into the GOP majorities and make it that much more difficult for the president to push his agenda, no matter who he replaces Karl Rove with. The president’s final two years in office should be interesting to watch.

If this were to happen it would be a major political failure on the part of President Bush. What would be an even greater failure, I think, is if Miers were to be withdrawn, Bush would most likely nominate someone who could satisfy his extreme right base. That would, in turn, create a fight with Democrats and it’s a fight they could probably win, if they can get a backbone. As much as the peole of wingnuttia want to overturn Roe v Wade, the vast majority of Americans want to keep on the books in some form or another. Nominating someone who would knowingly vote against it would just be stupid at this point in the game.
What is up with the stupid Hollywood couple names reporters come up with these days? First Ben Afleck and Jennifer Lopez become Bennifer. Then Ben Afleck and Jennifer Garner become Bennifer II. Now we have TomKat for Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes; Dashton for Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher; and Brangelina for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Who the hell sits around coming up with this shit?
So far, the new television season has been one of highs and lows. Some of the news shows have turned out to be pretty good, if still in need of work, other have petered out. Many of the returning shows lost some of their steam from the previous season and other just don’t pull me in like they used to. Below is a breakdown of several shows I am currently viewing. It does contain spoilers, so if you don’t like that, don’t continue to read. And yes, I am a Sci-Fi/Fantasay kind of person, so many of the shows I watch fall into that genre.
