About Time
Considering Battlestar Galactica is the most-watched show on the Sci-Fi Channel, it’s about time Sci-Fi renewed it for a third season.

Here I was bitching about Dems not having the balls to take it to Republicans and then our dear Harry pulls a fast one on the GOP and closes down the Senate in order to confront the issue of questionable pre-Iraq war intelligence. Was it a political move? Maybe, but what it did was put the the GOP on notice that maybe, just maybe, Democrats aren’t going to roll over anymore. America is growing tired of the fiasco in Iraq and while it’s obvious we can just up and leave we do need better leadership. Unfortunately, it’s doubtful we’ll get that from Bush.

Peter David is one of my favorite writers of Star Trek fiction, so it was great to see (oh about a year ago) that he blogged. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading his posts, which range from reviews of movies and television shows to the occasional political commentary. This post is an example of the latter, and he gets it exactly right. The Democrats need to grow some balls and start fighting back. If the GOP wants to do away with the judicial filibuster than let them. Yeah, it could hurt in the short term, but as Mr. David points out, no matter how much Republicans dream, they will not remain in power forever. There is an excellent chance we’ll have a Democrat of some sort in office 2008, so wouldn’t it be nice for this Democrat to put up liberal and progressive judges the Republicans can’t filibuster?
It’s interesting how quickly the Republicans forget. They used the filibuster as a viscous tool during the Clinton administration and now they consider it an abuse of power. Idiots!
