Apple may actually be taking over the entrainment world, or at the very least changing it in a way not foreseen. The East Coast National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences will announce a new Emmy Award for original content created for portable devices like the iPod. This has the potential to change television in monumental ways. How long will it before original television shows are created just for portable devices or solely for download on your computer. Broadcasters are the big losers here, but I doubt they should stress out about it. I’ve downloaded an episode of Lost for the iPod, but it will never completely replace my television for me.

Let me just say I’m no fan of Nip/Tuck. Not because of the content, but because I found it rather boring. That being said, it’s one of the most successful original drams on basic cable, especially among younger, edgier viewers for whom advertisers like to whore themselves. Don’t include Toyota in that group of whores. They would rather whore themselves for Conservative wing-nut groups like the Parents Television Council.

Results like this are not surprising, but some of the states who are considered pro-choice do surprise. My own state of Missouri, for example, is nearly split down the middle on pro-life vs. pro-choice. Florida, a very red state these days, is nearly 60% pro-choice, a 22-point difference between the pro-life group. I’m also surprised at the number of states with a strong Catholic history that are unashamedly pro-choice.

Whenever President Bush acts like this he looks more and more like a child who got caught doing something wrong. Especially when he’s addressing military men and women.
While I think Talent still has a very good chance of winning in the upcoming Senate election, McCaskill will give him a good run for his money. As this poll shows it still remains a very close race. Missouri is very much a Republican state once outside of St. Louis and Kansas City, and even in those major cities it can be close. McCaskill did well, but not great, against Matt Blunt’s very negative gubernatorial race. Hopefully, she’s learned her lesson. Talent will not be an easy kill and he’s not afraid of going for the jugular, which he proved when he ran against Jean Carnahan (who filled her late husband’s term until a special election could be held). I would love to see Talent out of office.
There are many reasons why I visit Daily Kos: the liberal viewpoints, the intelligent debate (although sometimes shrill), and the great community are just a few. But what clinches it for me? Markos Zúniga, many of his contributors, and many of his visitors are fans of the Sci-Fi Channel’s "Sci-Fi Friday" block of shows.
Link: Cenk Uygur: We Didn’t Torture the Nazis
This is a very intersting posting and makes some excellent points on the issue of torture. Like this:
Wait a minute, I have an even better idea. You know who knows a lot about torture rooms – Saddam Hussein. He’s in our custody right now. That’s a valuable resource. We shouldn’t just let that go to waste. Let’s torture him so he can tell us the best ways to torture other people.
Makes one think, doesn’t it?
When the "news" network that loves you most, whores itself for you at every turn no matter how bad a job you do, starts showing poll numbers like these, things are not going so good for you.
