Jesus Would Be So Proud

So much for Christian charity, peace on earth, and goodwill towards all men.  Makes you proud to be a Christian, doesn’t it?

Screwed Again

They should have seen this coming, but media companies got a taste today of what it means when you capitulate to a bunch of morons like the FCC and right wing fanatics like Jerry Falwell.  You get told it’s not enough.  Fools like Michael Copps will not be happy until they’ve legislated how many times we’re allowed to fart while watching television.

Jeff Jarvis writes of this in a much more intelligent manner than I do — it’s one of the few issues on which we agree.

Phony, Indeed

I couldn’t have said this better if I tried.

I Just Don’t Get It

I used to be a major fan of Today — what little I could watch before having to leave for work — but it grew just a little grating several years ago and much of the grate is cause by Katie Couric.  I just don’t see what others see.  Yeah, after they ousted Jane Pauley for Deborah Norville they needed a shot in the arm and Couric provided that, but since the departure of Bryant Gumble — making Katie top dog — the show has really suffered.  Instead of being a source a great news in the morning, Today has become of source of fluff and corporate synergy,  and Couric is at the heart of all that.  Now, CBS wants her, and wants her so bad they are willing to pay $25 million to get her!  So, what is Couric waiting for? Barbara Walters left NBC for much, much greener pastures on ABC — and became quite successful and respected in the process.  Couric has it easy over at NBC, but with the CBS news gig she would most definately be top dog for the network.  Could she be waiting for NBC to come up with more than $25 million?  Is she worth $30 or even $40 million?  Again,  I just don’t see it.
