This from a so-called moderate Republican! To think, Dems actually gave thought to a Kerry/McCain ticket. Thank God that didn’t happen.
I’ll give McCain credit for being one of the more honest Republicans out there, but he starting act no different than any other politician in his zeal to win office. What’s next: dumping campaign finance to appease K-Street?
One can only imagine the bookstore nightmare that will ensue when the very final Harry Potter novel hits the shelves! I can easily see it doubling the sales of Half Blood Prince.
OK, let me just say this: I’m a huge fan of Alias. Regardless, the show has really sucked this season.
***SPOILERS***
The death of Vaughn, Sydney’s pregnancy (to coincide with Garner’s), no real bad villain. I will say the addition of Rachel Nichols has been very good for show even if Balthazar Getty wasn’t. Amy Acker as the evil Peyton was a stroke of genius on the part of whoever casts the show. Acker has been a favorite of mine since she became part of the Angel cast; although, they wasted her talent in the final season. Unfortunately, a lot of life has gone out of the show. Nichols is good, but she’s no Jennifer Garner. Now, ABC is saying they will not renew the show and I’m OK with that, but there is also talk of a possible spin-off or even a movie. One spin-off idea is a show centered around the three bad guys: the always menacing Sloane (totally underused the last two years), Sark (great character), and Acker’s Peyton. This has potential to be a very interesting show. One that takes us to the dark side of Sydney’s world instead of focusing on the good guys’ fight against them. I also think David Anders and Amy Acker would make a great villainous team. Moreover, if they could get Lena Olin involved now and again as Irina that would be even better!
The other idea, and one I doubt would be successful, is a major motion picture focusing on Garner’s Sydney Bristow. There would have to be a major, major villain and a plot line that tied of some serious loose ends to make this work. Unfortunately, there really is no major plot line to tie up anymore — unless something surfaces over these last few episodes. Garner, is also not that big of a draw at the movies. Elektra didn’t exactly wow us in the theaters and 13 Going on 30 was not all that better. It capitalized on Garner’s cutesy looks and less on any talent she might have. Don’t get me wrong, she’s great on Alias, but she’s not exactly an acting powerhouse.
This article describes Jeff Zucker, president of NBC Universal, as petulant over the audacity of TiVo to offer their subscribers the ability to legally transfer recorded shows to their iPod and PSPs. Jeff Zucker petulant — damn lies!
Of course, I’m dripping with sarcasm. Zucker, the man who gave us Katie Couric and the dumbing down of morning news, has always struck me as immature and overly full of himself in interviews I’ve seen. I mean, people act like he’s some wunderkind, but the fact is he’s presided over the worst seasons NBC has had since the early 80s.
