Should We Be Surprised?
Should anyone really be suprised that Justice Scalia holds this opinion?

Recently, a truck driver training school near me was raided by the FBI. The South Central Career Center is vocational training school that operates a busy truck driver training program. It’s this program that raised the hackles of the FBI. According to local reports, the FBI is concerned that a disproportionate number of test takers were of Middle Eastern descent. The SCCC is located in West Plains, Missouri, a moderate-size city of around 10,000 and while the area has a significant population of Russian immigrants, a large number of people with Middle Eastern names would, and should, raise some red flags.
What this brings home to me is how terrorism can catch up with you even in the smallest of communities. It will be interesting to see how this investigation progresses. The director of the school, who has been placed on paid leave, says all required documentation was reviewed prior to the testing, but you have to wonder why he wasn’t concerned, as well. According to a local news report 26 of 30 names on a testing list were of Middle Eastern descent. Considering Oklahoma City is not the far from West Plains, you’d think the director of a truck driver training school would be more concerned.
CORECTION: A local West Plains, MO resident e-mailed me concerning this post. According to this person, it was the school’s director who informed the FBI of the names. If that is indeed the case, bravo to that person.
