Dear Mary

I stopped watching Meet the Press a long time ago.  Russert’s willingness to be a mouthpiece for the administration and his pathetic love for conservative pundits just made me nauseous.  It looks like today’s MtP would have been worth the pain based on what I’m reading about Mary "the Harridan" Matalin’s performance.  Matalin was always overbearing, but in the final years of the Bush-Cheney Administrations she has become more and more pathetic.

Think, People, Think!

Let me first say this:  I think the way in which Muslims are acting in regards to the cartoons they feel belittle their Prophet is unnecessary and reprehensible.  In a modern society, no group should resort to violence in order to make their point.  Moreover, the clerics who are fanning the flames this controversy to ge their followers worked up in a frenzy are simply disgusting.

That being said, why the hell are Europeans going out of their fucking way to belittle Muslims and continue fanning the flames of controversy?  It says something about European society that they disrespect others so much.  Yes, yes, I know all the freedom of speech and press excuses out there, but that point was made long ago.  When a high-ranking Italian government official parades around in a t-shirt emblazoned with the very cartoons causing so much ruckus, that’s just wrong.  This no longer an issue of a newspaper having the right to publish what it wants.  It’s about a society’s complete disregard for the feelings of their fellow citizens.

Whoever this is, I hate them!

Stewart and the Oscars

I know Oscar hosts are kind of limited in what they can do, but I hope that John Stewart can bring something new, something interesting to this annual Hollywood love fest.  Granted, it’s an awards show and there’s only so much you can do, but Stewart’s dry, intelligent humor will, I hope, infuse the show.
