Sasha Cohen just can’t catch a break.  Maybe she shouldn’t have skipped those practices after all.

Come on!  Is this the best they can do?

It looks like the South Dakota law is even worse than imagined.  It has no exceptions.  If a woman’s life is put in danger due to the fetus, then by God she just dies.  The only way a doctor can perform an abortion in South Dakota is if the fetus dies during an attempt to save a woman’s life.  This is just fucking unreal.  This law doesn’t just take away a woman’s ability to choose abortion if she feels it’s the right decision, it forfeits her life and makes the fetus more important.  How is this pro life?  Sacrificing one to save another?  How can all these pro life women get behind a law that for all intents and purposes makes them little more than breeding stock?  Even more frightening is that more and more states run by Conservatives will begin passing similar legislation.  Scarier still, I can see something like this happening in my own state of Missouri.

The one bright side to this is that most Justices on the Supreme Court have held that laws such as this must have an exemption for the mother’s life.  However, with a solidly Conservative Supreme Court you never know what will happen.
