I’ve spent my life in the Ozarks and I attended a public school in a small, rural community.  Like most high school students I was required to complete at least one course in biological science.  In that course, and later in a geology elective, we learned about Evolution.  Never during that time did we have to deal with community religious leaders pressuring the school not to teach Evolution, or to teach some bastardized version of it; never did we have to deal with student zealots whining about their beliefs being mocked.  Of course, times have changed.  Now Conservative Christians are taking over school boards and government at all levels.  Now schools are being pressured to either blend in religion or to not teach Evolution at all; or, face funding cuts, protests, and boycotts.  The incident this article refers to in Arkansas is sad, but nothing new in today’s Ozarks.

You know, it’s really kind of sad how the once-important Washington Post has declined into a sad, pathetic shell of its former self.  Domenech is just another nail in the coffin.
