Another Bush Ally About to Fall?

Bush allies have not fared to well once their electorate got the chance to express their will. First Spain went to the left, then Tony Blair spent the better part of last year fighting off those who were predicting his doom, and it looks as id one of Bush’s staunchest allies, Silvio Berlusconi, may just fall as well. According to the AP, the election is too close to call, but that alone should surprise Berlusconi, who’s been the longest-serving Italian prime minister since World War II. Of course, this is not a referendum on Berlusconi’s support of Bush. There are valid economic concerns, but I’m sure it was a deciding factor for many when you consider the vast majority of Italians did not support the Iraq war.
