So what will be the biggest movie flop of the year?  My money is on The Da Vinci Code.  The book upon which this movie is based has, quite literally, been read my million and millions and millions of people around the world.  A movie isn’t going to shed any new light on the novel.  Moreover, the only reason to see a movie based on a beloved book is to find out how well, or how bad, it translated to the screen.  Unfortunately, The Da Vinci Code is a very long book packed with a lot of information.  It would be damned difficult to turn into a two-hour popcorn fest.  Why do you think The Lord of the Rings movies were so long?  This book would have been better served as a mini-series on television.

If President Bush was hoping his silly little immigration speech was going to rally the supporters, then I think he failed.  It’s almost sad really how President Bush’s second term has become a great failure.  He just can’t seem to get anything right.  From politial appointments to legislation it’s just one failure after another.  If Democrats can’t capitalize on this they deserve to be a minority party.
