The fact that nearly half of America still believe there were WMD in Iraq is a shining example why this country is going to hell in a hand-basket. Nearly two years later and almost a billion dollars spent with no WMD in sight and people still believe this load of bullshit! I don’t care if I was the most rampant Iraq war supporter, if after everything that’s come to light I still believed the lies of the Bush administration I should be ashamed of myself.
You can’t watch cable these days, especially FX, without seeing a commercial for myNetwork TV and one of its two new telenovella-style soap operas. I’m already getting annoyed with them. The new network, formed out of stations left from the WB/UPN merger, is going to offer two new shows running five nights a week over a 13-week period. I think that’s an intriguing idea, and if successful myNetwork plans running non-stop all year long. In order to do something like that the shows have to be produced on the cheap, and it looks like myNetwork is doing that by creating cheesy soap operas filled with a cast of has-beens and nobodies. Take Fashion House, for example: it stars Bo Derek and Morgan Fairchild (the has-beens, albeit beautiful ones) and people I’ve never heard of, which is about a middle-aged woman (Derek) who is "realizing her lifelong dream of becoming a successful clothing designer"! Then there’s Desire, an equally stupid show with a cast of people I’ve never heard of with the exception of Sofia Milos (CSI: Miami), who is far too talented to be on a show like this. I think it will be a bit much to expect people to stick around every night, but myNetwork has wisely chosen to air a one-hour recap show on Saturdays in order to keep people involved.
