Attack the Ill

What an ass Rush Limbaugh is!  Instead of having a discussion of the merits concerning stem cell research he instead attacks Michael J. Fox for exaggerating the affects of his Parkinson’s in a series of ads for candidates supporting stem cell (the McCaskill ad).  Of course, there’s nothing new here.  Limbaugh is an ass.  I’m ashamed he’s from Missouri.

Not to be outdone by Fox, several Republican celebrities are running a counter-ad.  The ad includes the likes of Jim Caveziel (ultra-Conservative Catholic), Kurt Warner, St. Louis Cardinal Jeff Suppan, Kansas City Royal Mike Sweeney, and former Everybody Loves Raymond co-star, Patricia Heaton.  Heaton was a bit of a suprise.  She’s an outspoke opponent of abortion and supporter of Bush, but she always struck me as one of the moderates.  Apparently not.

Soldiers Begin to Speak Out

It’s never good when a president loses the hearts and minds of the men and women he’s sent to war.  That’s exactly what seems to be happening among a small group of active soldiers who are petitioning Congress to get out of Iraq.  I have no doubt these brave soldiers will soon be tarred and feathered as traitors, but I don’t think they’re alone.  I know many soldiers who share this opinion, many who do not, but it says something that they are willing to speak out in a time when patriotism and silence are considered one and the same.
