Case In Point

As if to back up what I just said, here’s an example of our freedoms being attacked.  See the video here.  It’s once thing to arrest a group of people who may be protesting illegally, but it’s whole other thing to stand by while they are trampled by horses and then refuse to get them medical treatment!

The Same Old Trick

You gotta give the Bush II Administration credit:  no matter what Americans think, they stick to their guns no matter how unpopular their policies are.  Take, as example, Alberto Gonzales, probably the second most worthless Attorney General in 25 years (#1 would be his predecessor, John Ashcroft).  Mr. Gonzales, speaking to graduates of the Air Force Academy, said critics of the president’s warrentless wire-tapping program "define freedom in a way that poses a ‘grave threat’ to U.S. security."  Yes, ladies and gentleman, this is the man charged with defending the Constitution of the United States saying the freedoms given to us by that very document are a "grave threat"!  Here’s the full quote:

"But this view is shortsighted," he said. "Its definition of freedom —
one utterly divorced from civic responsibility — is superficial and is
itself a grave threat to the liberty and security of the American
people."

Well, Mr. Gonzales, contrary to what you and President Bush believe, our hard-fought for freedoms are never a threat to our national security.  These very freedoms you would like to take away from us are what sets the United States apart from the totalitarian regimes and terrorists who want to destroy us.  Let me just say this:  if the Dems, with their new-found power, allow this piece of garbage legislation to get through Congress they don’t deserve to control both Houses of government.

Poor, Poor Karl

Well, if Karl Rove is on everyone’s shit list these days then I say it couldn’t happen to a more deserving person.  After six years of campaigns that played to lowest common denominator in American politics it’s nice to see someone like Rove finally get what’s coming to him.  Of course, we shouldn’t feel too sorry for dear Karl; he’ll land on his feet.  Much like any other politico he’ll disappear for a few years and then start showing up on Fox News as an analyst and everyone will have forgotten what an ass he was.
