I haven’t had a lot to say about the recent Iraq Study Group report because I knew no matter what this group said, the president would do whatever the hell he wanted.  So far, that has pretty much been the case.  After the report’s release the president continued to say the Iraq was winnable and that he would not consider a withdrawal at this time — even going so far as to say that James Baker could return to his day job!  Lately, however, we’ve been seeing a few rumblings from the White House about a new direction for Iraq.  I doubt seriously that this "new direction" will be much of anything, but the fact that 71% of American disapprove of the president’s handling of Iraq it might be time for the president to remember that he has an entire nation, not just a few loons on the right, to account for his actions.  We’ll see.
