Wow!

We would all like to belive, I think, that we had it in us to put our own lives at risk to help another person in need, but you never really know the answer to that question until you’re confronted with it.  I have to admit I don’t believe I would jumped on a subway track with an oncoming train headed for me to save another person’s lives.  Quite frankly, I think I would be frozen from the shear shock of seeing something like that.  Thank God for people like Wesley Autrey, a true American hero if there ever was one.

What Will This Accomplish?

I will be the first to admit that I don’t envy any elected official who tries to fix the mess that is George W. Bush’s Iraq Folly, but I find myself wondering just what the president thinks throwing 20,000 more troops into this dangerous hell hole will accomplish.  I mean, isn’t 20,000 troops just a drop in the bucket when you consider what must be accomplished in order for us to get the hell out?  It seems like it would require ten times that number to really accomplish anything.  I’m no military expert, so of course I really don’t know, but this just seems like we’re creating 20,000 more chances for dead sons and daughters.
