I was an apolitical young man during the waning years of Ronald Reagan’s second term, but I remember quite well what a lame duck he was; how Congress pretty much ran rough-shod over the president and found it quite easy to overturn his vetos.  Considering recent events the waning years of Bush II’s presidency is turning out to be a return to the later Reagan years.  I can’t say I feel terrible about that.
