So It Begins

Well, we knew it was going to happen, and now it’s official:  Hillary Clinton is taking the first steps towards running for president.  You know, I’m not ashamed to say I’m rather excited by the upcoming Democratic primary.  Right now, we have three solid candidates I would have no problem voting for:  John Edwards, Barak Obana, and to a lesser extent Hillary Clinton.  All three have qualities I find appealing.  If  I had to choose right this second it would be Barak Obama with John Edwards a very, very close second. If any of these three wins the nomination, and brings along one of the others as VP, Democrats will have a very strong set of candidates for 2008.

Of course, Hillary Clinton comes with a lot of baggage, but I think the American people are just a little sick of the right-wing crap written about her.  Granted, she can sometimes be a polarizing figure, not all Democrats will get behind her, and the right-wing smear machine will begin warming up, but having Hillary Clinton part of the group can only make the process better.  It is past time a woman stepped up to run for president.  I’m sure she’s in this to win, but having her there is just as good.
