Why is it that we Americans have allowed to small states who aren’t even close to being representative of the nation so much control over the election process?  Candidates spend millions of dollars trying to woo the fickle citizens of Iowa and New Hampshire and I just don’t understand why.  Because they’re the first?  That’s just a load of crap.  If there’s a system desperately need of change it’s the primary/caucus system.  My preference would be for a “national primary,” maybe sometime in March or April, in which the entire nation voted for their eventual party candidate, then moved on to the national election.  Considering how states are about their primaries I doubt anything like that would happen.
