So, Microsoft wants to buy Yahoo.  Well, at first blush it might be just what they need to become more competitive with Google, but I don’t really know or care.  You can read an excellent Business Week article here about all the pros and cons of this merger.  If you’re interested in the whole old media versus new media discussion, you can read Jeff Jarvis’ opinion here.  For me, it comes down to email.  I switched from Hotmail to Yahoo Mail about 5 years ago and I’ve never looked back.  I like Yahoo Mail, I like the interface, and I like the overall service.  However, is Microsoft plans to combine it into their Hotmail service I just may have to make the switch to Gmail.
