A Road Taken

I think a lot of voters on the left believe supporting Obama or Clinton will mean a reversal of the Bush’s administration’s war in Iraq, the invasion of our privacy, and the use of what most people term torture in the national security.  I don’t think that will be the case.  Yeah, Obama and Clinton have both said they want to bring the troops home, but when that will be is up in the air.  The next president, whomever they are, will not want to abandon Iraq since he or she will be the one getting the blame, not President Bush.  This president has done much to increae the power of the Executive Branch and I don’t see any president willingly giving that up.  Moreover, while both Obama and Clinton have spoken out against the use of torture, neither of them know what he or she will do in any given situation.  If either Obama or Clinton felt torture could get the necessary information to save American live, I think they would authorize it.  Being president often means making decisions that are personally distasteful and are not always popular with the American people.

Obama and Clinton Neck and Neck

Like many other states last night, Obama and Clinton were basically neck and neck in Missouri, so close they each ended up with 30 delegates.  In total, Obama is only 80 delegates behind Clinton, and she may had some of that momentum knocked out of her but no one should ever discount a Clinton.
