Hillary’s Big Night
No one can deny that March 4, 2008, was Hillary Clinton’s night. She needed these wins to remain a viable candidate and last night Hillary Clinton proved that no one should count her out of the race just yet. She deserves some credit for pulling this off.
It was interesting to watch Clinton and Obama on the early shows this morning. Hillary Clinton was definitely basking in the glow of her success (as well she should), while Barak Obama looked and acted defeated. That’s a problem for Obama, I think. He lost 3 states last night, but he still holds the lead in delegates and needs to be hammering that point home in every interview. Neither one of these people is defeated and they both need to be bringing his or her A-game to the remaining state elections.
An interesting aside is a question Hillary is getting asked a lot today that concerns superdelegates. Reporters are asking Clinton if these superdelegates should ignore the will of the people and decide for her instead of Oabama. Her answer is lame: it’s the process, she says; she more electable, she says. Bull! If it comes down to the convention and superdelegates decide to go against the will of the people that could raise some big problems — for either candidate. Moreover, I think these superdelegates are going to have a difficult time choosing to go that route. Either candidate could risk losing voters if something like that were to happen. Regardless of who ends up with the most delegates by the time of the convention, I hope the other candidate has the courage to step aside.
