Nervous

At this time in 2004 I didn’t really get my hopes up.  The Kerry/Edwards campaign was doing an OK job and it really could have gone either way, but I never got my hopes up.  This election is a little different.  Obama actually has an excellent shot at winning the presidency with a strong mandate, but John McCain and the formidable Republican machine could still win this election.  I would say this is really the first time in which I actually felt nervous and worried about an election.

American Watches Obama

Having your campaign ad viewed by more than 20% of the country is not too shabby.  That’s around 33.5 million viewers spread across CBS, Fox, NBC, MSNBC, BET, TVOne, and Univision.  The real loser last night was ABC, which came in fourth place in 18-49-year-old viewers among the four major broadcast networks.

The Ad

Will tonight’s ad change the minds of many voters?  I think not.  It was a great promotional tool and laid out in detail what the candidate stands for, but I simply do not believe there are that many undecided voters; just people who refuse to say which party they support when asked.  What this ad will do is reinforce those who already support Obama and those who don’t.  Still, it was a good plan and Obama lost nothing by doing this; he certainly still has a bucket of money left for the next six days.

This Never Gets Old

Pictures like this speak for themselves.

The Latest Ad

I’m not sure how successful these long-form ads are, but I I like them.  They’re made for the online viewer who can take a little longer to watch and listen, but not too long before they lose interest.  The latest, entitled “Defining Moment,” plays to Senator Obama’s message of uniting the country and stands in contrast to the divisive messages of the McCain campaign.

Ashamed for Missouri

I don’t know what makes me more ashamed for my state, the fact that someone created fake money accusing Senator Obama of being a socialist and secret Muslim or the fact that people actually (truly) believe that load of bullshit.

Sad Attention Seeker

If what she said wasn’t so dangerous and destructive I might actually feel sorry for the Texas woman who alleged she was attacked and had a “B” carved into her face.

The Kind of Endorsement You Don’t Want

Well, we’ve all been waiting to hear who al-Qaeda was endorsing this election season (deep sarcasm here) and it turns out they like John McCain.  If al-Qaeda wasn’t a bunch or murdering sons of bitches I might be able to find some humor in this, but of course there’s nothing funny about this.  I’m sure we’ll hear nothing from the Obama campaign about this, and they would be quite right to do so.

Unfortunately, if the shoe was on the other foot, the McCain campaign would be canvassing the country with ads about how much terrorists love Obama.

There Are Bigger Fish to Fry

The fact that Sarah Palin doesn’t understand the Constitutional role of the Vice-President say less about her and more about the education system in our country.  How many average American can even name the Bill of Rights, or even knows that the Bill of Rights is the first ten Amendments to the Constitution? Yes, one can expect a political candidate to know better, but isn’t this par for course when it comes to Sarah Palin?  There are bigger fish to fry than one woman’s ignorance.

Is This the Best You Have

How sad for Republicans that all they have left is the liberals-hate-America BS.  I mean, is this the best they have left.  Yeah, this plays to the rabid base, but that’s about it.  Sad.
