Now for Something Uplifing

Let’s be real, how many of us would turn in a large amount of money in a bag sitting on the floor.  I’ll be honest, I might be tempted to keep it, but I’d like to think I was raised better than that.  Fortunately for someone, Moisei Baraniuc’s parents raised him better than that.

I Wish This Was a Joke

But it’s not.  A bunch of fucking morons quite literally kicked in the doors of a Long Island Wal-Mart so they could quickly raid the shelves containing all of Wal-Mart’s cheaply made crap.  In the process these fucking morons caused the death of a Wal-Mart worker and pregnant woman to have a miscarriage.  And what did these fucking morons do?  Well, of course, they just went on shopping.  No death is going to stop these fucking morons.

Still Waiting on All That Change

I have to say I am increasingly disappointed in the people President-elect Obama is putting forth for his cabinet.  Not one progressive in the bunch — not one.  From Janet Napolitano to Hillary Clinton to the horrific idea of keeping Robert Gates, President-elect Obama has chosen to move to the right on nearly every aspect of national security.  That’s a shame considering there are so many great progressives out there in these fields.  The mind-boggling part of this is President-elect Obama continuously chooses people who not only didn’t support his candidacy, but stand oppose many of things he pledged and/or spoke against during the campaign.  This is not a “team of rivals” it’s a team of people who will work against you.

Now we hear one of the architects of the disastrous financial bailout is going to be nominated for Secretary of the Treasury, probably one of the most important picks of this new administration.  So much for change we can believe in.  I may remain an ardent Obama supporter, but that doesn’t temper my disapppointment in these choices.

Once Again, Weakness Wins the Day

There is no excuse, none, for allowing Joe Lieberman to keep his chairmanship.  Simply none.  This is why Democrats are seen as weak when the party can’t even have the balls to throw someone out who doesn’t support them when on key, important decisions; someone who loudly and vehemently disparaged and worked to defeat the next President of the United States.  Sadly, I think a lot of blame has to be laid at the feet of President-elect Obama.  I hope his unwillingness to hold people accountable is not harbinger of how he will run our country.

So what if Joe Lieberman had left the party; moreover, would he have even followed through on the threat.  There maybe a small group of moderates who’d like Lieberman to be part of the GOP but moderates are not in the majority.  Even the people of Connecticut don’t like Joe Lieberman.  Maybe they’ll get their act together and toss this man out of office like they should have done last time.

I sure as hope President-elect Obama got something in return for keeping this turncoat in the party.

Secretary of State Clinton?

I’m really of two minds about the possibility of Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State.  On the one hand, Senator Clinton would be a good choice.  She’s well travelled, both as First Lady and Senator, and she has a good relationship with leaders all over the world.  In addition, I think she could do a lot to repair the negative attitude some countries, rightly or wrongly, have towards us.

On the other hand, my personal feeling is the Democratic Party would be better off if the influence of the Clinton’s was lessened.  Both President Clinton and Senator Clinton bring a lot of baggage to the table, which might undermine her ability to achieve an Obama administration’s goals.

Lastly, would Senator Clinton really want to give up a safe bet Senate seat?  As a Senator she can wield a lot of power.  She may have some bridge building to do after a brutal primary campaign, but considering her efforts, strong efforts, to get Barack Obama elected that should already be happening.  To my thinking Senator Clinton would find greater power and accomplishment as Seantor, but Secretary of State also has history-making moments that no Senator could achieve.

In the end, I wish President-elect Obama would look somewhere else.  Personally, I’ve had enough of the Clintons.

Here We Go Again

Democrats are now at a point where they control both houses of Congress and soon the presidency; yet, they are incapable of having the balls to toss Joe Lieberman out.  Sad.  Grow a pair, people!  President-elect Obama may not be able, or willing, to tell Dems to toss Lieberman but Harry Reid should.

2012, Seriously?

There is no doubt that Governor Sarah Palin energized a portion of the Republican electorate, but do they truly believe she could win a national election?  Granted, this country voted in President George W. Bush not only once but twice; however, Sarah Palin makes him look like Albert Einstein.

It’s a Brand New Day!

What a great day Wednesday, November 5, 2008, has turned out to be!  Not only did President-Elect Obama win the election by a great margin, Democrats took all but one of the major state government offices in Missouri with Jay Nixon leading the way as governor.  It would be nice to see Missouri go to President-Elect Obama, and while it’s still close — closer than anyone expected, I think — I’m not sure that will happen.  Regardless, our country has spoken and in just 3 short months change will, I hope, start to sweep this country.

One More Time: Thank You, John McCain

For foisting this ass on the country.  Hey, Joe, your 15 minutes are up.  Please go away.  Oh, and don’t forget to pay your past due taxes.

Wish I Could Be There

Tonight, Senator Barack Obama will speak at a rally in Springfield, MO.  I wish I could be there, but in George W. Bush’s economy I have to work a second job.

It’s great to see Democrats paying so much attention to Missouri.  I still think it will be difficult for Senator Obama to take the state, but certainly not impossible.  A lot will depend on the rural, very Conservative parts of the state.  I live in that part of Missouri and while it’s true I see many more Obama/Biden signs than I did Kerry/Edwards signs at this time four years ago, I think it will be a tough sell in these parts of Missouri.  However, if Senator Obama can peel a few of those rural voters to add with the votes he sure to get in the more metropolitan parts of the state he could pull it off.  This rally could help do that.  I’m interested in seeing how many people show up.  I suspect it will be a capacity crowd.  Springfield is a central point for many of us who live in Southwest Missouri so I suspect many will come from around this area to see Senator Obama.  Wish I could be one of them.
