There seem to be some rumblings that Al Gore will jump into the race for the 2008 election.  So what if he did run?  What would his chances be to actually take the nomination?  While I like Al Gore as both a person and a politician — at least in terms of what I read and see about him — I don’t know if he could take the nomination.  While I certainly don’t think Hillary Clinton has a lock on the nomination, I do think Gore has a lot of competition in the likes of Barak Obama.

The former Vice-President is certainly a much different person than the one who ran for president, and should have won, in 2000.  If anything he’s embraced a liberal/progressive agenda instead of the insufferable moderate he tried to play in 2000.  That could hurt him, but I think the country is desperately wanting change and if Al Gore can come up with good answers on hot topics like Iraq, terrorism, and national security among others I think he could move to the top of the pack. 

In fact, what a dream ticket Gore/Obama would be?
