Adoption by same-sex couples is one of those hot button topics that’s almost as important as abortion to Conservative right-wingers.  Well, Senator John McCain needs to make up his mind before those right-wingers start to see through his facade.  First, the Senator flat out says he opposes gay adoption.  Of course, this starts the usual talking heads buzzing about this, that, and the other.  Now, he says that adoption by same-sex couples is OK if nothing else can be arranged.  Nice flip-flop.

I was really looking forward to seeing NBC’s new Bionic Woman series.  I’ve watched the promos and previews and it actually looks quite interesting, not to mention they got Katee Sackhoff to play a bionic baddie.  Now the whole thing seems tainted because news came out today that NBC has cast Grey’s Anatomy asshole, Isaiah Washiongton, in a multi-episode arc and offered him a deal for a series in the 2008-2009 season.  Sure, I understand NBC is trying to build some word-of-mouth for a series that will surely struggle in a season full of really good shows, but this just reaks of cynical and lowball publicity.  I certainly don’t wish for Washington to never work again, but I think he should pay a price until he is willing to admit that what he said was not only wrong but racist.  Yes, racist!  Racism is not just something to do with skin color.  Instead, all Washington has done is go on Larry King and not only deny what said (again), but blame Knight and play the race card.  Washington is both sad and pathetic.  I was happy when ABC fired Washongton from Grey’s; he needed to pay a price for what he said and the violence he brought to the set.  Sure, we live in a free country and yes we are allowed to say whatever we wish, but that doesn’t mean we should not have to pay a consequence for what we say.  Freedom is not free, and it never should be.  NBC made a bad choice, a cynical choice, the wrong choice, but when you’re the fourth place network what else can you do?

Fort Lauderdale’s Republican Mayor Jim Naugle wants to spend a quarter million dollars on a robotic toilet that is supposed to make it more difficult of gays to have public sex on the beach. Is there nothing else this utter moron can find to sepnd a quarter million dollars? I’ve lived n Florida and I know fool well some of the problems cities like Ft. Lauderdale are experiencing and the fact that two consenting adults are engaging in sex on the beach is nowhere near the top of the list. Moreover, why only gay sex? Heterosexuals have sex on the beach, as well, so why are there no robotic toilets to stop them? Again, what a complete moron, but is that anything new with the Republican party these days?
