So Much For Christmas Spirit

The Seattle-Tacoma International Airport seems to have come down with a case of the Bah-Humbug Virus.  Instead of including a menorah among their Christmas decorations at the request of a rabbi, airport officials have chosen instead to take down all their holiday decorations!  What asses.  Their excuse:  if they’d put up a menorah they would have had to appease other religious groups, as well.  Sure, Christian extremists would have demanded a Nativity scene, but what’s wrong with that?  Why could the International Airport put up a display that honors all the passengers that comes through their terminals?  Why not have something up for Kwanzaa?  Or Ramadan (if there is such a thing as decorations for that)?  Jesus Christ embraced all people, that’s what drew converts to Him.  It seems so many forget the moral values of the Person for whom this holiday is supposed to be celebrated.  It’s not the rabbi who’s the Grinch of this story, it’s the idiots who run the airport.

Going Too Far

Far be it from me to agree with the hack-tacular, conservative American Center for Law and Justice, but I do.  I think the decision by the city of Chicago to refuse ads for The Nativity Story during their annual Christmas festival because it might offend non-Christians is just ludicrous.  It’s a Christmas festival!  If non-Christians are there wouldn’t you think they’d be offended by the whole thing, not just one movie ad?
