There is no doubt that Governor Sarah Palin energized a portion of the Republican electorate, but do they truly believe she could win a national election? Granted, this country voted in President George W. Bush not only once but twice; however, Sarah Palin makes him look like Albert Einstein.
Well, Senator McCain really had nowhere to go but down after Governor Palin’s barn-burner, if shrill, speech Wednesday night, and down he went. I thought maybe it was just me, but even Republicans are saying it was bad. I will give Senator McCain some credit. When he talked about what he endured as a prisoner during the Vietnam War it was probably the most personal I’ve seen him this whole campaign season. Beyond that I found the speech an utter snore-fest.
Wow, what a boring speech that said nothing and did a lot of pointless attacking. I’ll give her this, as a Republican attack dog she can give a good speech, but beyond that I don’t see anything great about her; but then I’m not a Republican.
It shouldn’t, but it never ceases to amaze me how lazy and a sneaky Republicans are. Instead of winning races fair and square, once again they want to win seats by redistricting. Lame, so lame, and pathetic. Sad part is, it could work.
Man, President Bush just can’t win for losing these days. His polling is in the toilet and now some fool is actually saying he should stay home during convention! First of all, ain’t gonna happen; second of all, there would be a major revolt among convention attendees if President Bush was not there is some capcity; thirdly, like it or not, he is the sitting president and deserves a little respect from his party. I’m no Bush supporter, but if the shoe was on the other foot I hope Democrats wouldn’t treat a sitting president this badly.
I don’t always agree with Frank Rich, but that’s often due to the fact that Rich has a penchant for saying what few are willing to say, and it’s not always pleasant. His most recent rant sums up so much of what I — and many others — think about John McCain and his ilk and it’s nice to see someone in the media with the balls to speak out against what has become standard operating procedure for Republicans.
You know it’s election time when Republicans start trotting out bullshit legislation like the Federal Marriage Amendment to the Constitution. Well, if nothing else, Republicans are consistent.
Seriously, why does anyone listen to these fools?
Senator Obama, that is. If you’re running for president you should have a better grasp of facts than Senator John McCain seems to have. And contrary to what Seantor McCain’s camp is saying, it’s not nitpicking to point that out.
When Newt Gingrich has the audacity to say that the so-called “left wing” of Democratic Party “admires” terrorists you just have to shrug and laugh. Only on Fox News would something like this be stated and taken as fact.
It’s also kind of sad. I’m a former Republican. In my first and second times at the election booth I voted for George H. W. Bush. The second time was bit more reluctantly but I just didn’t buy into Clinton. However, since 1992 I’ve watched as the Republican party degenerated into a small-minded group of people who say things like this; who latch onto things like abortion and guns as if they are greatest thing since mom and apple pie. Granted, my move away from the Republican Party began as many of my personal views became more centrist and even liberal in some cases, but the GOP would have lost me anyway when people like Newt Gingrich came into power. As a party, the GOP really has nothing left to give except stupid-ass remarks like this. With the second Bush administration, the GOP has proven they are not good caretakers of our country, our economy, our military, or our citizens. All they really have anymore are silly little remarks that will incite a small group within their party’s base, but that’s about it. Sad.
